Today’s post is all about me. All about making fun of me, to be exact. Because it’s good to laugh at yourself..often. And if I tell you what a mess I am, maybe you’ll feel better about yourself 🙂
I got a call the other day from the Membership Chair for the PTA at my son’s elementary school. I should add that I am the Co-President of the PTA this year (and since it’s September and that means the schedule is PACKED with PTA events, I’m currently not speaking to Jody, who convinced me to be co-prez with her. I’ll speak to her again in October when life slows down and I have time to forgive her. Actually, all kidding aside, I’m really enjoying all my new friends in the PTA and I’m not really mad at Jody. I just tell her I am cuz it’s fun.) Okay…the whole thing I’m writing about is how distractible I am and I just got totally side-tracked from my story! I’ll start again…
The other day, I had a call from the Membership Chair for the PTA. She was concerned because she’d received my membership form but there was no payment attached. She was worried that my check or cash had been lost. Oh dear. She doesn’t know me yet. I had to assure her that it was entirely possible, if not likely, that I filled out the form and completely forgot to pay! Yes, that’s right. The PTA Co-President is not an official member yet cuz she didn’t bother to send in her money with her form! Welcome to my crazy brain.
So that was Monday. Tuesday, I went to the grocery store for milk. Just milk. But I was there for 45 minutes. Why? Because I left my keys somewhere in the store! I re-traced my steps and wandered the store until someone turned them in at the customer service desk (thank you God!)
Then, the “piece de resistance”, I woke up today and started to write in my prayer journal. As I wrote out the date, September 12, 2012, my heart sank. I had put it on my calendar to call my dad on his birthday, Sept 11th, but I had a busy day and I forgot!!! Yeah, I forgot to call my own father on his birthday. Yay me!
But the good thing is that anyone who knows me, knows my air-headedness (no, not really a word) is never personal and never intentional. I just thought I’d tell you all about my week…and it’s only Wednesday! But don’t things come in threes? Maybe that means I’m safe until next week.
Have a great week!
